5 dollars can save two lives…

For once in my blog life, let’s be serious today. I want to tell you about Cleanbirth. Just a few words, from one mom to another.

Eight years ago, I had two miscarriages. Nothing I could do to prevent them. It was just one of those things that happens to a lot of women.  I was one of them. Maybe it was because something was wrong with the babies. I don’t know, and I never will. When I think about these times in my life, I still have a little pinch in my heart. But at the end of the day, there was nothing I could have done differently, knowingly or not. Somehow, that knowledge has helped healing.

But for many moms, it’s not the case. Today, women lose their babies and their own life while giving birth, because they cannot afford the basic hygiene to deliver in a safe environment. And that’s totally preventable.

I am a contributor to an awesome group of bloggers called World Moms Blog.  This week we are supporting, an organization started by a mom in Connecticut to make birth safer in Laos.

For $5 provides a mother with all the hygienic birthing supplies she needs to make birth safe.  They also train nurses and Village Volunteers to teach mothers about safe birthing practices.

Today, I am pledging that I will help to save a baby’s life. I hope you will join me.

You can help by contribution to the fundraising effort
