Where are my glasses?

I think I say that about fifty times a day. When I am not looking for my glasses, I am in a frantic search for my car keys, or my phone. I don’t know what it is about these three objects, but I keep misplacing them.

My car keys are actually pretty easy to find. They are simply buried under a pile of trash in my handbag. It can take up to ten minutes to dig them out. But when you know that something is where you are looking, your search is bound to be successful. So it’s a little annoying, but it’s ok, no need to stress!

The phone can be a little more difficult. Potentially, it could be anywhere: in the car, in the bathroom, in the kids room, in some pants pocket, in a jacket. So it can get a little tricky to locate. Thankfully, I can ring my phone and it will give me clues as  to where it is. I better listen carefully because after three rings, it switches to voicemail. But eventually, with time and a little patience, I’ll get it.

But the glasses?!!! Forget it! If you don’t have any, then you don’t know how stressful it is to look for them. Lucky you!! I don’t know why I am doing this to myself. Everyday, EVERYDAY, I lose my glasses. And as soon as I realize it, I am desperate for them. I need a system in place, because I cannot go on like this… So, I have a few possible options:

1. Wear them all the time. No need to wonder where they are. Because THEY ARE ON MY NOSE!!  Although, this is not a guaranteed stress-free solution. One day, I was looking for them everywhere and it took me a good hour and a mirror to see that they were indeed in front of my eyes. As in, exactly where you would expect glasses to be. But that’s a whole different set of issues…

2. Put them in a safe place when I am not wearing them. I have tried that many times and it never works though. I put them somewhere, like a specific shelf. Then the next day, I spent half an hour trying to remember what that special place was. I suppose I should put them with my secret chocolate stash. I NEVER forget where I put my chocolate so that could be a good idea. OR,

3. Let Skye handle my glasses. Skye always picks up my glasses and puts them in a totally random place. BUT, to her credit, she always knows what she did with them. For example, the other day, I was on a mad search again and was turning every single piece of paper, opening every drawer. After a while, I got really stressed up and snappy so Skye interrupted what she was doing (which was, covering the dog with play doh) and asked, “What are you doing, mommy?”

“Argh, I can’t find my glasses! I am so annoyed!! Do you know where they are?”

“Yes! They are in the cold fridge” That’s Skye’s language for freezer.

Needless to say I did not even pay attention to her nonsense and resumed my crazy desperate search. So she opened the door to the freezer, and got this out…

Kudos to you kiddo!! You never fail to impress me!
